Our trip to the lifeboat station
As part of our topic on Superheroes we all went on a visit to Barry Lifeboat Station. We heard about the history of the RNLI. We were able to look at the clothing the lifeboat men wear and both staff and pupils were given the opportunity to dress up in the clothing. We also learned about keeping safe on the beach and in the sea. As it was a dry day we went to Barry Island to eat our lunch and play on the beach. Thank you to all the parents for their donation included in the cost of the trip and Barry lifeboat station received a cheque for £80. We have received a letter from them thanking us very much for our generosity.

Welcome to Italy! We have had so much fun learning about Italy. We have created the leaning tower of Pisa using pasta and spaghetti. We used ICT to draw pictures and type up facts about Italy. We made masks to celebrate the carnival and masquerade ball in Venice. We enjoyed creating posters and leaflets to show off all the things we now know about Italy. We will be making pizzas too! Yum yum!

Bread Making
We had a fabulous time making our own bread rolls. We wrote the
ingredients in a list on our paper bags and then made sure that we
kneaded the dough and let it rise. Molly and Caitlin had their bread
with tea which was Lasagne and Oscar had his with his stew at home.
Yum!
PC Rob
Today we had a visit from PC Rob, he talked to us about what the police
do and how they help us. Paige told the class that the Police can
help us in an “emergency” and we talked about what the police
wear, what equipment they use and how to contact them if we need
help.
We
then had a brilliant time trying on hats from Pontypridd Police
station and PC Rob gave us all stickers to take home.
Thank
You PC Rob, we learnt lots of new information about the emergency
services.
Cardiff Castle
Miss
Davies, Mrs Jones, Miss Woosnam and the children in Year One had a
fantastic day at Cardiff Castle. We had an informative tour of the
castle, a look around the grounds and we met a knight! The knight
told us all about a dragon! We had to feed the dragon lots of animals
to eat and then we played a game called Splat the Rat. The knight
threatened to chop Miss Davies’ head off, but thankfully the
children in Year One saved her! It was a great day out enjoyed by
all!

Braces Bread
Braces Bread visited our school to show the children how bread is
made and distributed to the shops. The children dressed up as bakers
and had a go at making their own bread and had a lot of fun with the
dough. Braces kindly gave every child a loaf of bread and an activity
pack to take home with them.
