Autumn Term 2014
As part of our topic we went on a community walk around Maesycoed. We had a look at where our post gets sorted, all the factories, the signs drivers need to look at and safety on the roads. We saw different types of buildings, plants and trees around our school. We looked at parking facilities and recycling centres as well as the train station. We saw the Transport Police and they talked to us about safety on the railways. We even tried on his hat and looked at all the items he needs to carry around with him.

Our Garden Centre Visit
On Tuesday Years 1 and 2 visited Woodland Walk Garden Centre. We looked
at the different flowers and trees and hunted for objects. We all went
into Hoots Cafe for a welsh cake and a drink and we had a lovely time.
What
a busy half term we have had!
We
have been working extra hard and behaving perfectly, and so we were
lucky enough to collect all of our marbles! Well done Year 1!
Miss
Davies treated us to a wonderful picnic. We made sandwiches and POP
cakes, ate crisps and drank squash. We played with the parachute,
hula hoops, footballs, egg and spoons and played catch. It was
brilliant!
“We
had lots of fun under the parachute” said Roxy.
“We
played football, it was brilliant” said Baron.
“We
had an excellent day” said Ava.
“We
were excited about our POP cakes” said Marci.
“We
liked it when the special ingredient popped in our mouth” said
Daisy.

We have been planting.
In preparation for the summer we have
begun to sow seeds and bulbs. We had lots of giggles whilst digging
around in the soil! Let’s hope we have some sunshine to help the
seeds to grow!
Historical Centre trip
We had a fantastic
time at the Historical Centre. We walked there in the glorious
sunshine. When we arrived we were delighted to make cars using K-NEX
and then we raced them using a motor. It was great fun!

Welcome to Greece
Over the last 2 weeks we have been looking at Greece. The way they live, their culture, history and myths. We had a fabulous time trying traditional Greek dancing and smashing (tearing) plates. Afterwards we tried Greek food, we had pitta bread, koftas, olives, feta cheese, houmous, tzitzki dip and carrots, tomatoes. cucumber and pepper to dip with. Look at us having fun in our photos.
